DIRECTOR'S BLOG - find out what happened each week!
MAR 13 - Today, the set and the costumes were brought to rehearsal to experience our first dress rehearsal! Having those final touches really brought our play to life. They are making bold choices and singing their hearts out. I can't believe the next time we see each other - it is show time! MAR 6 - The students are doing great work with their scenes as well as their music and dancing. We have officially finished blocking the show, and beginning next week, will have everyone back together for the whole rehearsal to put this show together. We are excited for you all to see this play! FEB 27 - Wow! I am consistently impressed by the students and how much work they have put into this show. We got to run through the first part of the show, including all of our transitions. Then, we did a lot of character work with the VanGoghs and Sunflowers - so much fun. We have one more week of a split rehearsal and then, we are doing a dress rehearsal followed by the show! We can't wait for you all to see the Deerfield Players! FEB 13 - This week, the Deerfield actors really began embracing these characters and making such bold choices. As their teacher and director, I am so proud and excited for what we continue to create as we get to know this play even more. We worked on all of our staging, transitions, and music! Then when we had some Monet/Waterlilies family time, where we worked on our scenes and acting. REMINDER: NO REHEARSAL NEXT WEEK! Enjoy February Break! FEB 6 - This week, we received our second group of scenes to read over and review! We had an awesome time reviewing our songs and even learning another song (in case we have the time!) At the end of our rehearsal day, I got to work with the Sunflowers and Van Gogh's on all of their scenes and even more on their characters. They are making some awesome choices! JAN 31 - What a great rehearsal!! The students got the first part of their scripts and we worked on our opening song. They are so fun to work with and I am looking forward to continuing our work. Those who were at rehearsal know they need to memorize their lines for scenes 1-4. For those who were not at rehearsal - you can find the script on this page and I will see you at our next meeting time! JAN 23 - We started the rehearsal with a few warm-up and focus games and talked a little about what our show entails. The students had the opportunity to read through a monologue in different character types, sing an original song, and even learn a fun dance that we will incorporate into our show. They all worked very hard and we were so impressed at their ability to dive fully into this new material. |

STUDENT PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT
Kidstock! requires as part of the registration process that both the participating student and the parent agree to a Participation Agreement (see below) that outlines appropriate behavior and acknowledges the commitment to rehearsals. Students who fail to meet the standards outlined in this agreement will unfortunately be excused from their participation with no refund.
STUDENT/PARENT CONTRACT I understand that being onstage in a show is a team experience that involves making the commitment to be present at rehearsal, be prepared, and be respectful of the process and my fellow cast mates. If I am absent, unprepared or disrespectful it will have consequences not only on my ability to participate fully in the role I was cast but also on the efforts and commitment of my fellow cast mates. Being on a team means everyone is important! |
“I can’t thank you enough for the amazing talent and enthusiasm you shared with my child, and indeed that you share with the kids in all your programs. You all created a magical environment in which the kids worked hard, learned a lot, and had fun. We are so fortunate to benefit from the great work you do!” - Jill G, Parent of Cast Member
