screen acting - gr. 4-5

Welcome to the BACKSTAGE PAGE for our PAGE TO SCREEN families.  Theater is a shared experience, often between actor and audience member, where one relies on the other for theater to happen.  Our Kidstock! class is a shared experience between our Educational Artists and our students, but we also believe that our Kidstock! class is a shared experience between you and your child!  We hope this page includes you in the creative and imaginative theater play we explore each week!

CURRICULUM

SCREEN ACTING focuses on screen acting basics and developing plots.  Students learn about terms used on set, green screens, and types of shots through playful screen acting games.  Students are taught about 3 film genres per session and creatively contribute to the plot and characters of the film.  They then rehearse and film short “coming attraction” length films using a screenplay based on their ideas to be premiered at an end of session film screening.  Families will be provided with a downloadable version of all 3 films.

OUR PLAN FOR EACH WEEK

WEEK ONE
Learn film basics through screen acting games, perform in a screen test, share ideas for the first film.
WEEK TWO
Learn about Westerns, explore characters, and rehearse the Western.
WEEK THREE
Learn terms used on set, begin filming the Western.
WEEK FOUR
​Complete the first screenplay, learn about Adventure Films and share ideas.
WEEK FIVE
​Character exploration and rehearsal of the Adventure Film.
WEEK SIX
​Character acting games and begin filming the Adventure Film.
WEEK SEVEN
​Complete the second screenplay, learn about Superhero Movies and share ideas.
WEEK EIGHT
​Begin filming Superhero Movie, reinforce skills through acting games.
WEEK NINE
Complete the third screenplay, reinforce skills through favorite screen acting games.
WEEK TEN
Review what we learned and watch the premier of the films we created.
